Day 6: In your own space, create a fanwork. A drabble, a ficlet, a podfic, or an icon, art, meta, or a rec list. A picspam. Something.

Okay, I don't want to say I have OCD because that's a self-diagnosis and discrediting to people who legitimately have that - but I can't do things out of order. It pisses me off and makes me feel as if I failed at the thing I'm trying to do.

So I'm days behind because I'm still trying to do this. But. Here's my link.

Also, yes, it was written for another challenge (pic for 1000 words), but I figure I can count it here, right? Since I did write it within the last two or three days.

Day 7: In your own space, share your love for a trope, cliche, kink, motif, or theme. (More than one is okay, too.) Tell us about it, tell us why you love it, give us someexamples and recs.

Tropes:
There are... a lot of tropes I really like. I love AUs. I especially love high school/university AUs. Miscommunication and misunderstandings and idiots being oblivious are also beautiful. Specifically for kinks, I love D/s, or A/B/O. Power dynamics, protectiveness and caring and intimacy... Threesomes. Polyamory.

For AUs, I love the mutliple settings. The way the dynamics remain the same, the intricate plots replayed and remade to fit in a different setting.

Miscommunication - I love angst, I love to see characters brought low, and I like to see the stupidity, the sheer idiocythat my favorite characters can (canonically) get themselves into.

D/s, A/B/O, power dynamics, even Sentinel/Guide - I really, really love to see that play out. To see the intricacies, the love, the protection the dom/alpha gives... I just really like that. It's something personally amazing and lovely.

Polyamory/threesomes is fun for the same reason I like (mis)communication, because seeing people fit together is amazing.

(Also, through all this, angst and pain that characters get over or are comforted for - that goes through everything.)

Recs:
I... don't know. Like, I know what I read, but they're so far back in my history on Ao3...

I'll try and do at least one fic for each one I listed, though. So:

AUs: High fantasy story Descent, by Teyke and a utopia story (and the problems with utopias) New Metropolis by Amuly. (both Avengers)

Miscommunication/misunderstandings/obliviousness: Cornerstone by Vendelin (another AU, too, from Teen Wolf) and His Fate Will Be Unlearned by Scifigrl47 (just... assume almost all of these are AUs unless otherwise. Also, Avengers.)

D/S / A/B/O: Hello, Heartbreaker by Astoryaboutwar (Teen Wolf) and this absolutely beautiful story The Edge by Ladygravy99

Polyamory/threesomes: Put Away Childish Things by Arsenicarcher (suprisingly, not built like an Avengers AU, but the polyamory aspect is in fact downplayed; it's focused more on rebuilding a broken OTEveryone).

Day 8: In your own space, create a love meme for yourself. Let people tell you how amazing and asesome and loveable you really are.

This... feels ridiculous. But. Um. Here you go?

Day 9: In your own space, talk about what surprises you about fandom. It could be a pairing or fandom you never thought you'd like. A fanwork type you never knew existed.

I think the biggest surprise being in fandom was just how varied and interesting everything was. Slash was the first big surprise, then came the tropes like love potions (Harry Potter), mpreg (Harry Potter introduced it), Sentinel/Guide, learning about A/B/O, and honestly, at the start Severus/Harry was a surprise that I ended up liking, and then Danny/Steve from Hawaii 5-0 (especially since I don't even watch Hawaii 5-0). Then there was Clint'Coulson, which really took me by surprise.

I was surprised with how many plots I could come up with, and how my adolescent crush manifested into a type that followed me through every fandom I entered. I became that friend that drifted away from many people, and who found roleplaying a way to build plots.

Day 10: Stretch yourself a little and try something new. Go play in a new fandom or with a new pairing. Try working in a new medium. Or check out some fanworks that are new to you.

So... it's not really new, per se, but I've never written in this fandom before so I gave it a shot. In all honesty, I almost did something based off of Agent Carter because I loved that pilot episode so much, but I figured I already had an idea for this pairing, why not get it out.

So I wrote a small (small) fic in the Merry Gentry series, found here.
