2026 — Fandom Snowflake Challenge, Day 9
Feb. 1st, 2026 03:39 pmChallenge #9: Talk about your favorite tropes in media or transformative works.
I have so many preferred tropes in fandom. Found family is the biggest. A group of people, coming together, becoming brothers and sisters, finding a parental figure? Finding themselves suddenly a role model for someone younger and wanting to protect that person? Those are my comfort fics, for real. There is no better high than a well-written story of people finding their home with each other.
I also absolutely love a/b/o. I don't know why, but shapeshifters / werewolves were my first supernatural loves and I think a/b/o gives me an excuse to have it always and forever. I also like the idea of a protector and of someone being protected. It just hits me right in the heart.
I love competency. I never realized how much that is important for me, that someone knows what they're doing or knows how figure it out instead of looking at me helplessly and I have to figure it out for them.
I love stories that have in depth world-building. That have some unique, special mechanic that is well-explained and makes sense for the way the story was written. I like those small little references to it, the small little details, because it shows thought and dedication put into the story.
There are kinks, of course, but I really actually don't want to focus on them, because a good story doesn't need that, really. A good story takes characters and showcases them at their best and worst, and everything in between..
